Top accountancy firms take on industry challenge
Wednesday 15th March 2006
The UK's big four accountancy firms* are among the companies signed up to the very first FTC Kaplan Three Peaks Challenge ? with all places for this exciting new event being snapped up within six weeks of launch.
The FTC Kaplan Three Peaks Challenge is a classic mountain challenge for corporate teams within the Accountancy sector, scheduled for the weekend of 10th-11th June 2006, and will raise essential funds for aid agency CARE International. It involves climbing the UK?s highest mountains - Ben Nevis in Scotland, Scafell Pike in the Lake District and Snowdon in North Wales ? all within 24 hours! It is anticipated that the event will raise well over ?100,000 for CARE International?s overseas development projects.
Firms including PriceWaterhouseCoopers, KPMG, Deloitte & Touche, and Ernst & Young have all risen to the challenge by entering multiple teams, and Malcolm Preston, Partner in Charge from PricewaterhouseCoopers, Gatwick enthused:
"I am delighted that we were able to rise to the challenge with our office contributing three teams. FTC Kaplan, in sponsoring this challenge, is supporting a worthy charity in CARE International and I wish all participants every success.?
William Macpherson, FTC Kaplan?s CEO, commented:
?We are delighted that there has been such a huge response within the industry, and are very much looking forward to taking part in what promises to be an exciting and unforgettable experience. Our own FTC Kaplan teams have already got underway with their training and fundraising preparations.?
Mike Bartlett, Head of Challenge Events at CARE, added:
?This is a record for us. In the ten years that our Challenge Team has been running corporate challenge events, all places for a first event have never gone as quickly as for the FTC Kaplan Three Peaks Challenge. We?re thrilled that the accountancy industry has embraced this first event with such enthusiasm.?
