Challenge poverty, challenge yourself... And challenge NMA!
Teams from across the New Media Industry are signing up for a day of demanding outdoor challenges in the name of charity.
The CARE Adventure Challenge supported by New Media Age takes place on 5th September and aims to raise essential funds to support the work of overseas development agency CARE International. CARE works in over 70 countries around the world, tackling poverty wherever the need is greatest. Across five continents, CARE's work has an impact on more than 65 million people.
Among the teams taking part is an intrepid bunch from New Media Age. Name, Name, name, Name and name are approaching the event with a huge sense of fun.
Says Editorial Director Bal Bhogal, “We decided to take part in the event as well as being the Media Partner, due to a combination of wanting to ‘give something back’ through a cause we all feel strongly about, and the idea that it would be great to go out there and get more people in the industry involved, and getting more companies to benefit from the event.
“This is a first time opportunity for the whole New Media Industry to get on board an exclusive challenge, and it’s a great social event as well so it’s really nice to be involved.”
This demanding event, taking place in the Brecon Beacons National Park in Wales, combines outdoor activities in a day of exhilarating fun. The challenge includes a fast-paced canoe relay, a demanding mountain biking course and a hike on the beautiful Brecon Beacon Horseshoe, all in the target time of ten hours.
Afterwards, celebrations and awards will take place at a well-earned dinner and reception where teams can expend any remaining energy and party the night away along with other teams from the industry.
The event promises to be a fantastic teambuilding and networking opportunity for companies, in a stunning setting among Wales’ beautiful scenery. The most important aspect of the challenge is to raise £2500 per team to support the essential work of leading overseas development agency CARE International.
Says Bal, “We’ve started training and are cutting out the booze- but nothing too strenuous! The emphasis is definitely on fun for us, and we want our readers to come and take us on. But we do have a reputation to uphold- we don’t want to come last!”
