CARE International Irish Challenge

Some of Ireland’s most intrepid business people will exchange the comfort of the office for the great outdoors on 10th-11th May, to take part in CARE International’s 3 Peaks Challenge - Ireland.

The event involves taking on the country’s three highest mountains, Carrauntoohil, Mount Brandon and Lugnaquillia, all in the target time of 24 hours! At the same time, money will be raised to support CARE’s essential overseas work, helping 55 million of the world’s poorest people in over 60 countries find routes out of poverty.

Teams make it over the finish line
CARE Challenge Manager, Michele Evans, explains, “We’re hoping to break last year’s fundraising record of over a million pounds, through 13 adventurous events planned for this summer. The CARE 3 Peaks Challenge Ireland is our first event this season, and one of the most popular.”

Teams are already signing up for the challenge, with a range of organisations taking part, including Dublin’s Siac Ferrovial (construction) and Arup Consulting Engineering, amongst others. Says Michele, “Many of our events are aimed at specific industries, but the Ireland event is not, which means a range of industries are welcome to take on the challenge! We want as diverse a range of teams as possible, so we are urging anyone interested to get involved. Not only will this help us to raise much-needed funds but hopefully it will also raise awareness amongst UK industries about CARE’s fantastic overseas projects.”

Noel Godfrey of the event’s Siac Ferrovial team, enthuses, “We’re all extremely excited about taking part. It will combine a great team-building opportunity with the chance to get out of the city, get some fresh air and really challenge ourselves- and we can’t think of a better cause than CARE to benefit from our fundraising efforts.”

CARE is one of the three largest overseas development agencies in the world, and participants can be sure their money is going where it’s most needed- as ninety one pence in every pound goes directly to fund CARE’s work overseas.
