CARE Construction Challenge

Leading overseas aid and development agency CARE International UK are pleased to announce the launch of the CARE Construction Challenge supported by New Civil Engineer.

THE CHALLENGE
Taking place in the beautiful Brecon Beacons National Park on 3 July 2010, the event will see teams from every level of the construction industry covering the distance of a marathon on foot, bike and water.

In addition to the physical challenge, teams’ practical skills and mental agility will be put to the test in a raft building exercise and a series of mystery challenges.

CARE’s in-house Challenge staff offer expert training advice and fundraising support to all participants, and with 15 years’ experience in running outdoor challenges, a safe a professionally run event is guaranteed. Efforts will be rewarded with a well deserved awards dinner and post-event party.

An intrepid bunch from New Civil engineer are already signed up- the gauntlet is down for the rest!

THE CAUSE
All funds raised will support CARE in helping 65 million people in 70 countries find a route out of poverty. CARE’s work includes some of the most important construction projects in the world: rebuilding homes destroyed by natural disasters; constructing schools for marginalised children; creating temporary shelter for families displaced by conflict.

CARE is part of an international effort to bring relief to people in Indonesia following the recent earthquakes, and in Vietnam and the Philippines in the wake of typhoon Ketsana.

CORPORATE SUPPORT
The event is backed by IT software and consultancy supplier Union Square. Marketing Manager Holly Fenton said, “We’re really impressed with CARE’s work and are especially keen to support their activities in shelter provision and reconstruction through the Construction Challenge.  As well as entering a team we will be recruiting as many teams as possible from our contacts.  We’re delighted to be a corporate partner of the event and look forward to raising as much money as possible for CARE.”

HOW TO TAKE PART
The CARE Construction Challenge is open to teams of professionals from across all levels of the construction sector from design to completion and every stage in between.

Teams of four will be asked to raise a minimum of £3,000 to support CARE’s work.
