Pounding the streets for CARE
Flora London Marathon 22nd April 2007
On one of the hottest race days in the history of the event, nearly 50,000 runners took to the streets of London to take on the challenge of one of the most famous marathon routes in the world. Within the masses there were 12 runners taking part in aid of CARE International and between them they have raised ?15,000, and still counting, to support the work of CARE International throughout the world. Two members of the CARE Challenge Series team, Neil Munro and Lydia Gibson, took part for CARE and Lydia tells us her story...
Lydia?s Marathon for CARE International UK
In April 2006 I went to watch the London marathon as a representative of CARE to cheer on the people running for the charity. I was inspired by the sheer determination of all the participants, so much so that I embarked on what was to be my biggest physical challenge to date.
In April 2007 I ran the London marathon in 4hours 45mins. I started small with 5k practice runs, building up to my first competitive 10k and then ? marathons, before I knew it 2 hour runs were the norm! I found varying my routes kept me focussed and company on the long runs was always much appreciated.

If you are thinking of taking up the challenge and running because you CARE don't hesitate to get in touch and take a look at our running event pages of the website.
