Events Update May 2007
We still have a few places for our toughest yet most stunning CARE Challenges ? the 3rd Sierra Nevada 3 Peaks Spain, and 24 Peaks in the Lake District - sponsored by First Title.

Our CARE 3 Peaks Spain Challenge is back for a third year, and most places have already been snapped up. This is undeniably our most exciting challenge, as participants not only have to hike mainland Spain?s 3 highest peaks within 24 hours (Alcazaba, Mulhac?n and Veleta), but also cycle them! What?s more, unlike our other CARE Challenges, places aren?t just open to teams but individuals.
Scheduled for 6-8th September 2007, over half the available places for this event have already gone to two companies ? CARE Challenge returnees World Design and Trade, who are entering a group of 6 people, and newcomers BarclayCard, who are entering 4 people. Business Analyst Michael Dawson explained why they decided to enter:
?We were looking for a new challenge this year, having taken on another charity challenge in Snowdonia last year and really enjoying it. After looking around at other challenges, we decided that the CARE International 3 Peaks Spain Challenge fitted the bill perfectly. We are all pretty fit and active but the majority of us have not ridden a bicycle for about 15 years and so the cycling aspect of the challenge adds some extra excitement! We chose CARE International as we wanted to find a large, professionally run charity that made a real difference to people?s lives and that we felt would immediately benefit from our fundraising. With a good 4 months to go, we are all looking forward to the challenge, but I wonder whether we will be saying that 10 mins into the first hill climb on day 1? watch this space I guess!?
In the words of one participant from last year?s event: ?Very tough, very rewarding and expertly organised.?

If cycling doesn?t grab you, then why not check out our CARE 24 Peaks Challenge sponsored by First Title? Property Services group First Title are sponsoring our classic Lake District challenge for the second year, with additional support from finance company Lexicon Partners. If you?re a CARE Challenge regular, you?ll notice that we?ve changed the date this year from September, to 16-17th June.
24 is the theme throughout this extremely tough event ? 24 Lake District Peaks over 2,400 feet, and 24 hours to complete it in! Nevertheless, places are going very fast for this year?s event, with over half the places already taken up by companies including Lexicon Partners, Royal Bank of Scotland, Taylor Woodrow, and First Title Services. They will be faced with scaling legendary peaks such as Scafell Pike, Great Gable, Helvellyn, Bowfell, Great Dodd, and will cover a distance of 51Km on foot ? the equivalent of climbing Mont Blanc!
If you?re up for the challenge and helping us beat the 2006 CARE 24 Peaks total of ?93,000, then click here.
