EnterpriseMouchel challenge themselves and challenge poverty
An intrepid bunch from EnterpriseMouchel are the latest team to sign up for the CARE Construction Challenge, taking place on 30th June on Dorset’s scenic Purbeck peninsula. Teams will take on a marathon distance on foot, bike and kayak while raising vital funds to support poverty relief charity CARE International.
EnterpriseMouchel join defending champions BAM Nuttall as well as Crossrail, Kingspan, Fairhurst, Ramboll, Portsmouth University and more.
Team leader Ricky Taylor said: “We were attracted by the mix of physical events: running, cycling and canoeing makes the event more of a challenge than a one discipline event and the distances, whilst being challenging, are achievable for mere mortals… mere mortals who have taken their training seriously!”
The team currently manage the Strategic Road network on behalf of the HA, for the central part of Southern England (Area 3). Many of the main roads that the competitors will travel to the event are on the team’s network, with the A31 also being the Olympic route to Weymouth.
CARE responds to humanitarian emergencies with, amongst other forms of assistance, emergency and transitional shelter, permanent housing and infrastructure. CARE’s work resonates with the EnterpriseMouchel team, and was a big factor in their decision to take part. Ricky explains, “We certainly appreciate the importance of maintaining critical infrastructure and hope that some of our colleagues may engage with CARE as a result of publicising our involvement in this event.”
