Without volunteers to staff the events we simply couldn’t run them, so if you would like to be involved and donate your time and effort to staffing an event, then we would love to hear from you! You can help out on your own or with friends or colleagues.
What it involves
You will need to be prepared to work outdoors, possibly in bad weather and possibly at night or in the very early hours. You could be helping us to brief teams, checking teams in and out, driving to and from locations, marshaling or cheering teams over the finish line. We provide a comprehensive safety and support network to all participants, which simply would not be able to do without our volunteers. You don’t need any experience to help, just some enthusiasm and a good sense of humour! The weekends involve hard work, but they are immensely rewarding.
Where
Our challenges are spread all over the UK and our portfolio grows each year with event locations ranging from Scotland to Somerset. Wherever they are, the events are located in areas of outstanding natural beauty.
We generally meet in London on the Thursday or Friday and return on the Sunday or Monday depending on the length of the event. Depending on the event and journey time there is sometimes the opportunity for a staff activity prior to the event. You will not need anything more than a basic level of physical fitness and some enthusiasm to take part.
Who With
There will be members of the Challenge Team along with a mixture of volunteers. We have a very valued group of experienced volunteers who work on the events and are superb at showing less experienced staff how to get the most out of volunteering.
Costs
It doesn’t cost anything to volunteer, in fact CARE covers all reasonable expenses. We cover your accommodation (twin B&B’s, Youth hostels) as well as food and transport costs for the duration of the event.
Equipment
You will need warm and waterproof clothing. We are able to lend out waterproofs when required from the Challenge team kit.
